Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
The Academy provides both full-time and extra-mural studies. The term of study is four years for full-time students and five years for extra-mural ones. The main faculties which are responsible for full-time education are the Faculty of the Criminal Militia, the Faculty of the Militia of Public Safety, the Faculty of Investigators and Forensic Experts, the Faculty of Corrections and the Faculty of Law. The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus trains different specialists for law-enforcement agencies: operatives, divisional, juvenile and road inspectors (traffic officers), investigators and forensic experts, corrections (correctional) officers and other lawyers. The principle task of education at the Academy is not only to give cadets and students proper theoretical training but also to teach them to use their knowledge in practice. For all that the Academy has all the necessary facilities such as highly qualified teaching staff, modern teaching base and rich traditions of education and training. Modern lecture halls, computer classrooms, libraries and reading-rooms, gyms, hostels, canteens and a cafe are at the disposal of our cadets, full-time and extra-mural students. To combat, suppress and prevent crimes successfully cadets and students of the Academy study many special subjects: Criminal Law, Administrative Law, Civil Law, Criminology, Detective Activity, and others. Besides special subjects they study general subjects: Economic Theory, Philosophy, Psychology, Belarusian and foreign languages. They usually have one lecture and three seminars or practical classes every day. Cadets and students of the Academy also have practice in law-enforcement agencies. The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs cooperates with higher educational institutions in our country and abroad. It is a member of the Association of higher educational institutions of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states, the International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA) and others. The teaching staff, cadets and students of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs actively participate in international events held both in the Republic of Belarus and abroad. The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus is the basic organization of the CIS member states for training, advanced training and retraining of personnel in the field of migration and combating human trafficking. The International Training Center on Migration and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the Academy conducts educational courses, seminars and other educational events for law enforcement officers and others. Not without good reason the Academy is proud of its graduates. Many high officers of the law-enforcement agencies of the Republic of Belarus and of the CIS member states started their career at the Academy.

From the History of the Academy
Minsk Department of the Extra-Mural Faculty of the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR was founded on May 16, 1958. Lectures and seminars were delivered by the experienced professionals and practical workers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of our republic. In July 20, 1964 Minsk Department was reorganized into Minsk Full-Time and Extra-Mural Faculty of the Higher School of the Ministry of Public Order Protection of the RSFSR. On January 1, 1976 Minsk Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR was established on the basis of Minsk Faculty of Moscow branch of the extra-mural legal education. The cadets were the officers of militia agencies of Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and some regions of the former USSR. Representatives of more than 27 nationalities studied there. Minsk Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR was reorganized into the Academy of Militia of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus in 1992 and in 1995 it was renamed into the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. 2) Retell the text, using the table from ex. 1).

International Training Center Due to the increase in crimes related to illegal migration and human trafficking, on the 5th of March, 2007, the Republic of Belarus took the initiative at the United Nations International Conference in New York to establish the International Training Center for training, advanced training and retraining of personnel in the sphere of migration and combating human trafficking. The International Training Center was founded in Minsk, on the 19 of July 2007, on the basis of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Today, the International Training Center trains specialists in the field of law enforcement. The main activities of the International Training Center are: organization of training, advanced training and retraining of personnel in the field of migration and combating trafficking in human beings, as well as other areas of law enforcement; establishment and development of cooperation with international organizations and institutions for conducting training events; study, generalization and dissemination of the best practices in the field of combating crime. The International Training Center offers more than 50 training courses.
